If you’re looking for truly bizarre, UFOs Over Poland-The Land of High Strangeness is the book for you.And what’s truly unique about the stories in this book is the fact that almost all of them are totally unknown outside of Poland. The author, Piotr Cielebias, the celebrated Fortean journalist and paranormal investigator begins his recounting of the Polish UFO scene by looking into the early 17th century reports of flying lights and floating humanoids. He moves along his historical perspective timeline quickly though and brings us detailed reports of more contemporary modern events. One of the most important chapters in the book is the in-depth examination of “Jan Wolski’s Close Encounter.” which was billed as Poland’s first abduction case. Poland has also has its fascinating share of crashed flying saucer reports, mass sightings, encounters with strange beings, flying triangles and many anomalous zones with reoccurring UFO sightings and unusual high strangeness phenomenon. Included are several rare UFO photos, never seen before. Besides the UFO cases, what I also enjoyed about the book was how Mr. Cielebias gave the reader an overview of Polish history as background to what was going on in the country at the time of each specific sighting era. Frankly I learned a lot about Poland and its people. I noticed that some reviewers pointed out typos and some mangled grammar. In truth, I see the same “mistakes’” on anyone of a dozen western main stream media news sites on a daily basis. And I can assure you that the person who translated the book, speaks way better English than most reviewers here speak Polish. The publisher, Flying Disk Press should be congratulated for introducing these unknown foreign books to a wider audience. They prove that UFOs are indeed an international phenomenon. I have already begun reading UFOs Over Romania by the same publisher. Please keep them coming!

A well written book, definite must addition to any UFO library! Good to hear of these experiences of normal people on the other side of the Iron Curtain...
This book contained a lot of new material on the subject from an area that has long been shrouded in silence due to the Cold War. The author covered the subject thoroughly from ancient times right up to the present. He fills in a lot of gaps on this geographic area and a lot of high strangeness that has and is happening therein.
Long awaited and needed regional study for an area ripe with Ufological mysteries and other strange events. Piotr Cielebias does a masterful job in detailing previously unknown UFO encounters in Poland and revisiting famous UFO encounters from Poland. A must have book for your UFO library. I have been lucky to have a professional relationship with the author for a number of years and I must say there a few as dedicated to his passion as Piotr.

Incredible book. I have read many UFO related books,this one really was something new.The cases described are totally bizarre and not your run of the mill UFO encounters. I had no idea the topic had such a long and colorful history in Poland. Some of the cases go back decades and are truly frightening. Despite the negative nit picking reviews on this site,I am happy I went ahead and purchased this book anyway.
I really enjoyed UFOs Over Poland. You notice trends in Ufology, and of recent years there's been an interesting shift towards the psychic and the spiritual, both dark and light, in approaching UFO investigations. Piotr embraces this new paradigm with thoughtful aplomb, taking us deep indeed, into Poland The Land of High Strangeness!
You'll be treated to well documented reports, both classic and contemporary, of weird aerial phenomenon, alien beings, peppered with a fine dose of cryptozoology and the occult.
I found UFOs Over Poland to be a refreshing new take on Ufology.

So - We begin with - An impressive collection and outstanding narrative of the "Ufological" state of existence in the country of Poland. How do these reports differ so much, yet are so alike with regard to sightings and encounters reported on a global scale? The answer - is unanswerable. Author Piotr Cielebias opens the curtains and exposes, once again, the "HIGH STRANGENESS" of this phenomenon. Poland is really not on the UFO table per se - with regard to a majority of researchers - or the lay person - it never has been -- until now. Author Cielebias has written a "new" UFO book - one that, when you think about it reader - really couldn't have been written - but he has done it - and done it well. The reports run the gamut of the history of this "marvel of reality" - from the Golden Age of encounters, all the way up to and including present day. The book is a very satisfying and yet refreshing read - something that's nigh impossible these days with the exception of a very select few researcher/authors. I congratulate Mr. Cielebias for laying out, what I'm sure is only the proverbial "tip of the iceberg" of UFO's from a country formerly under Soviet domination. I hope he continues on his research journey and writes another stupendous collection of reports and encounters, as seen from a country, we here in the West seldom hear about.
